Principal Investigator & Grant Recipient – On Ritual and Art
The Seldon Institute, Chicago | March 2025– April 2026
- Conceived and led a one-year practice-based research project investigating how ritual-derived structures can inform contemporary curatorial practice and exhibition-making.
- Conducted a year-long interdisciplinary study drawing on ritual theory, anthropology, performance studies, and museum studies, including field research on Islamic prayer and Mawlid rituals in Egypt.
- Developed an iterative methodology combining research, immersion, artistic production, and curatorial experimentation.
- Produced the experimental film A Sun In The Palm and curated the exhibition On Rock-Soft Matters as research outcomes and testing grounds for the project's hypotheses.
- Successfully translated a year of field research into publicly accessible artistic and curatorial outcomes, creating a methodological foundation for ongoing doctoral research.

- Designed and conducted a practice-based research project investigating the role of artistic experiences in fostering empathy, emotional engagement, and social connection.

- Organized and moderated Empathy Talks, a series of public conversations exploring the intersections between art, emotion, cognition, and social change.

- Contributed to the development of Global We, an international programme exploring the role of art and culture in fostering empathy, connectedness, and global belonging.
- Conducted curatorial and programme research informing artistic experiences, exhibitions, talks, and participatory formats.
- Coontributed to the translation of MIT Media Lab’s findings on Global We in a qualitative format.
- Developed a research interest in the relationship between art, transformation, and collective experience, which later informed my independent work on ritual and contemporary exhibition-making.

Heritage & Archive Researcher / Art Mediator

- Conducted archival and historical research for the Heritage and Archive Department in support of major museum collaborations.
- Supported the preparation of the exhibition dedicated to Karl Lagerfeld at The Metropolitan Museum of Art through archival documentation, object research, and interpretative support.
- Worked closely with museum curators and heritage professionals to ensure accurate historical and artistic contextualization of archival materials.
- Contributed to the preservation, interpretation, and dissemination of corporate cultural heritage.
- Supported the research and interpretation of more than 80 archival garments and related materials for a major international museum exhibition.

Awarded a competitive grant to develop On Ritual and Art, a practice-based research project investigating the relationship between ritual structures, contemporary art, and curatorial practice.
